The Song of a Forgotten Land

Oh, what humble of a land,

With shores of pure sand,

Who could have thought?

That a demand from a devastation,

Might have been the start

Of this patriotic population?

Island of mine, I am yours,

For your shores are nothing to ignore,

Island of mine, I am yours,

For the people of yours are always to care for,

From free spirited, to the hands of the

leaders of the world,

This blue and red flag served as inspiration,

To the generations who have been here longer,

Then the foreign lands you and I know,

To the 50 stars we may belong,

But our heartbeats will always remain strong,

Tyranny could only last for so long,

Unless you’re in Puerto Rico,

Where your stand won’t be prolonged,

Island of mine, I am yours,

For your shores are nothing to ignore,

Island of mine, I am yours,

The love you carry cannot be postponed,

Adversities we have faced,

Tragedies to overcome,

Hurricane hits to the face,

Debts that their pays will never come,

Their heritage is nothing to be ashamed of,

Those Puerto Ricans carry a passion unique,

From any other place your eyes had laid on,

The natural disaster named after the virgin,

May have brought destruction and disorder,

But all it did, was to make us see,

What really in front of us,

This identity I search,

Shall be nothing out of reach,

For living under the tropic sun,

Only brings days of tradition and fun,

Island of mine, I am yours,

For your shores are nothing to ignore,

Island of mine, I am yours,

“Ojalá” its full beauty can be shown!
